LONG COVID SYNDROME

Some even after recovering from COVID 19 infection may continue to have certain disabilities, such as shortness of breath, fatigue, brain fog etc. for a few months due to the continuation of the inflammatory response inside the body.


Brain fog is a condition where the person suffers from cognitive impairment. He/she may find it difficult to carry out complex mental tasks, inability to think properly, memory impairment etc. This is thought to be due to the continuation of the inflammatory process in the brain following COVID 19 infection.

“LUTEOLIN TO THE RESCUE OF BRAIN FOG” says Theoharis C et.al. They report that natural flavonoids luteolin and quescertin could help people suffering from brain fog. They say that these flavonoids have broad anti- viral effects as well as the ability to inhibit the inflammation in the brain. Luteolin is said to be able to penetrate into the brain and reduce inflammation in the brain and help people affected by cognitive decline, and other neurological disabilities following COVID 19 infection. It is claimed that even patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease could benefit by luteolin.

Rich sources of luteolin are lemons, olives, red cabbage, onions, onion leaves, kale, parsley, celery, carrot, peppers, cabbage, pumpkin, apple skin, green tea, black tea, red wine, dark chocolate.

THE WHOLE DISEASE PROCESS OCCURING IN THE BODY IN LONG COVID IS DUE TO THE SEVERE INFLAMMATORY PROCESS THAT OCCURS WITH THE COVID 19 INFECTION.

To overcome/protect from these complications the following steps could be taken, which also gives protection from COVID 19 infection, as well as protection from all Non Communicable Diseases.

  1. Earthing or Grounding. One of the most effective health promoting measures.

  2. Maintain proper health of the 3 main sites in the body where chronic inflammation could occur.

A Maintain health of the oral cavity. A word of caution, avoid using mouthwash as it could destroy the health promoting bacteria present in the mouth.

B Maintain the health of the lungs. Avoid smoke of any type. Cigarette, kitchen smoke, burning of incense, mosquito coils, joss sticks.

If using a mosquito net wash it at least once a week. An unclean mosquito net could lead to severe inflammation of the lungs. Several patients suffering from asthma for many years were able to overcome their asthma and stop their asthma medications following washing their mosquito nets once a week.

C Maintain the health of the gut by taking a fibre rich diet (plenty of green leaves, vegetables and fruits) and probiotics (curd, yogurt etc.) daily.
